Master Floor

The final floor–the floor that will pretty much be the "master suite"–begins to be built. But first, one more shot of the ThermaSteel Panels.  They arrived unassembled (naturally) and marked with the figures that you see here.  The figures corresponded to the detailed drawings that Chris worked on along with the ThermaSteel engineers.  This shot shows the view of one of the bedroom window openings, and illustrates how vertically adjoining panels are connected with wide metal binding brackets screwed in place.  The header for each window frame is pre-fabricated into the the construction of the panel and tied into vertical steel studs that go straight up to the top of the upper panel, where the steel top beam completes the frame for both compression and shear strength integrity.

Chris stands in the master bedroom of the upper floor, checking his plans.  To the left is another example of another pre-fabricated window in the ThermaSteel panels.

The sense of view potential from the master bedroom.  You can see how the ThermaSteel panel is pre-fabricated for the angled shape of the front wall and how the header for the windows tie all the way across.  The larger opening will contain a sliding door that will open onto the upper deck, and the vaulted ceiling of the main living area is what you see directly in front (although this does not interfere with the view).

The exterior panels all in place, with temporary supports until the interior framing and roof structure is in place in order to provide structural integrity.  This view shows the back end of the master floor, where the bath will be on the right and the study on the left, with the door opening onto the small balcony that’ll overlook the garden.

Another shot of the view from the masterbedroom, taken from a place where there’ll be plenty of room for a nice, cosy chair and side table.

The interior framing almost complete on the master floor, with a "dolls house" view of the layout. In this photo, you can see the master bedroom far forward, with the room just back of that being both the dressing area and master bedroom closet, and the commode room, which is part of the master bath.
